Ms. McDermott has developed curriculum for over 100 (STC Certified) courses and has trained hundreds of instructors and students.  She is a "gifted", “dynamic”, "flexible and energetic" instructor and has taught classes in Ventura County, CA., Santa Barbara County, CA., Riverside County, CA, King County, WA., and Yuba County, CA.  She facilitated training for the Probation Business Managers Association (PBMA) and consistently receives outstanding reviews. She served as President of Southern Counties Training Association during her tenure with probation. 

Ms. McDermott received special leadership training from the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) and the California Board of Corrections (now CSA) in several areas, including:

                       • Developing Leadership Systems in Juvenile Institutions;

                       • Developing Effective Training Programs;

                       • Learning Styles;

                       • Training Trainers; and

                       • Thinking for a Change: Cognitive Behavioral Programming

Ms. McDermott authored a 'use of force' policy for a Southern California Probation Agency, has an extensive background in use of force related topics and is considered a use of force expert.  She received training from the F.B.I. in this area, is a certified Gracie Resisting Attack for Law Enforcement (G.R.A.P.L.E.) instructor, is certified as an OC instructor, and holds a lifetime FBI rangemaster certification.  She holds a certificate of competencey as a self-protection tactics instructor from the Sanano Self-Protection System and is certified as a Law Enforcement Tactical Handgun Instructor by Tacfire Firearms Training Institute.

Ms. McDermott was lead trainer for the Officer Safety Training Unit for Ventura County Probation. She was awarded the Department's Officer Safety Award by staff in 2001, the Black Belt of Excellence in 2004 and the Department's SDPO award in 2006. Under her leadership, the program grew and was recognized as one of the best programs in Southern California. She completed course work for a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration in January of 2008.    

Associate Consultant Terry Warnock recently retired as Chief Deputy of Ventura County Probation Agency after serving the citizens of the County for thirty years.  She was the Director of Juvenile Hall, created and managed the arming program at Ventura County Probation, is an expert in personnel matters, and managed Adult and Juvenile Field Services.  Ms. Warnock has facilitated classes for Ventura County Probation and PBMA.  She holds an MBA with an emphasis in Organizational Theory and Development from California Lutheran University.
